Reconstitution Calculator

Enter how many milligrams are in the vial and how much bac water you plan to add. The calculator returns the concentration you end up with and what a given volume on the syringe contains.

Concentration

5 mg per mL

10 mg dissolved in 2 mL

In 0.5 mL

2.5 mg

What that volume on the barrel contains

This converts between milligrams, millilitres and concentration. It does not advise how much of anything to use.

How does the calculation work?

Concentration is milligrams divided by millilitres. A 10mg vial with 2mL of bac water added holds 5mg in every millilitre. Nothing more complicated is happening, and the calculator above is doing exactly that division.

What are the common combinations?

2 mg1 mL2 mg per mL
5 mg1 mL5 mg per mL
5 mg2 mL2.5 mg per mL
10 mg1 mL10 mg per mL
10 mg2 mL5 mg per mL

15 mg3 mL5 mg per mL
20 mg2 mL10 mg per mL
30 mg3 mL10 mg per mL
50 mg5 mL10 mg per mL

How much bac water will you get through?

At 1mL to 3mL per vial, a 30mL vial covers roughly ten to thirty reconstitutions, and a 10mL vial covers three to ten. Both have to be used inside 28 days of the first puncture, so buy for what you will actually get through in a month.

Where do you find fuller protocol information?

This page handles the arithmetic. For deeper protocol material, peptidedosewizard.com covers it in detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you calculate reconstitution concentration?
Concentration equals the milligrams in the vial divided by the millilitres of bac water you add. A 10mg vial with 2mL added gives 5mg per mL. That one division is the whole calculation.
How much bac water do you add to a 5mg vial?
Adding 1mL to a 5mg vial gives 5mg per mL, and 2mL gives 2.5mg per mL. Both dissolve the same 5mg, so the choice is about how large you want the measured volumes to be.
What does mg per mL mean on a syringe?
Milligrams per millilitre is how much of the dissolved substance sits in each millilitre of liquid. At 5mg per mL, half a millilitre on the barrel contains 2.5mg.
Does the calculator tell you how much to take?
No. It converts between milligrams, millilitres and concentration and nothing else. How much of anything to use is a question for a qualified professional, not a calculator.
Why do different people use different volumes for the same vial?
Because the volume sets the concentration, and people pick concentrations that make their measurements easy to read. More diluent gives larger, easier volumes; less gives a longer-lasting vial.
